How to Apply

APPLY NOW - Summer begins May 4, 2009! Completed applications and supporting documents must be received no later than ten days prior to the interview date. An application is considered complete when all items on the application checklist have been received (some exceptions apply). Complete all information in its entirety before submitting. An interview will be offered when the application process is complete. See the Current Interview Schedule.

Apply Online

Instructions for applying online: First, enter your email address. Once you go to the first page, the system will email you the retrieval code. As you click on next, to go to the next page, your information will be saved in the database. If you leave the website, you can use your retrieval code to pick up where you left off. When you are finished entering your information, press the SUBMIT button to submit your finalized application. You will be notified via email by the next business day that your application has been received. If your application is accepted, you will be required to complete your packet for interview consideration.

Plan Ahead
it is recommended that you submit your application 2-3 months in advance of the semester you are applying for. Candidates must be accepted into the program through a selection process which requires a full application package as listed on the checklist and a personal interview which will be conducted on campus. Candidates who appear qualified based on their written applications will be invited for a personal interview. Employment history, driving record, personality profile, enthusiasm, experience, and financial resources will be considered during the selection process. We're looking for good employees to send to the company. San Juan College offers three entry periods each year: Fall (Mid to Late August) - Spring (Early January) - Summer (Late April)

Admission Requirements for Acceptance into the Program

  • Class I FAA Medical
  • United States citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States
  • Acceptable Driving Record (See FAQs for more information)
  • DUI/DUAI/DWI are generally NOT permissible.
  • High school graduate or GED
  • PACE candidates will take a written test covering FAA instrument questions. A MINIMUM score of 70% is required. A sim check in the Frasca 242, configured for the Baron will also be administered and must be passed satisfactorily.

Disqualifying Criminal Offense
Applicants need not apply for training if any of the following criminal history exists:

  1. Forgery of certificates, false marking of aircraft, and other aircraft registration violations; 49 USC 46306.
  2. Interference with air navigation; 49 USC 46312
  3. Improper transportation of a hazardous material; 49 USC 46312
  4. Air piracy; 49 USC 46502
  5. Interference with flight crew members or flight attendants; 49 USC 46506
  6. Commission of certain crimes aboard aircraft in flight; 49 USC 46506
  7. Carrying a weapon or explosive aboard aircraft; 49 USC 46505
  8. Conveying false information and threats; 49 USC 46507
  9. Aircraft piracy outside the special aircraft jurisdiction of the U. S.; 49USC 46502(b)
  10. Lighting violations involving transporting controlled substances; 49 USC 46315
  11. Unlawful entry into an aircraft or airport area that serves air carriers or foreign air carriers contrary to established security requirements; 49 USC 46314
  12. Destruction of an aircraft or aircraft facility; 18 USC 32
  13. Murder
  14. Assault with intent to murder
  15. Espionage
  16. Sedition
  17. Kidnapping or hostage taking
  18. Treason
  19. Rape or aggravated sexual abuse
  20. Unlawful possession, use, sale, distribution, or manufacture of an explosive or weapon
  21. Extortion
  22. Armed or felony unarmed robbery;
  23. Distribution of, or intent to distribute, a controlled substance
  24. Felony arson
  25. Felony involving a threat

Applicant Checklist
Critical to Recieve an Interview

  1. Application
  2. Resume
  3. Driving Record, five year minimum, from all states that you have been licensed and lived in during this time frame. (Contact Motor Vehicle Department for copy)
  4. Photocopies of the following:
    Class I Medical
    Driver's License
    Official (embossed or signed) Birth Certificate or Naturalization Paperwork
    Pilot Certificates of all ratings and certificates that you have. Front and Back.
    Copy of the Last two pages of your flight log book.

Required Before Training Begins

  1. Official High School Transcripts (Not needed if you have more than 12 semester credit hours).
  2. Official College/University Transcripts. Send the official copy to the Aviation Department—it must be official for the college to award any transfer credit.
  3. Three Letters of Recommendation from individuals who can write about your work ethic, character, and desire to succeed. These individuals can be employers or instructors.
  4. Photo (passport style)
  5. Copy of your current US Passport
  6. FAA Accident/Incident Report if you have more than 50 hours total flight time.
  7. FCC Restricted Radio Telephone Operators Permit through the FCC.
